Trond Reinholdtsen
Trond Reinholdtsen (b. 1972) is a singer and composer educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music. His works for instrumental and vocal ensembles, as well as computer and video works, have been performed in places such as Ultima, Borealis, Huddersfield and Spitalfields in London. Reinholdtsen is considered one of the most important and creative composers of contemporary music among his generation. He was awarded the Fartein Valen scholarship in 2005. Reinholdtsen is, along with Lars Petter Hagen, the artistic leader of the Happy Days Sound Festival. The record ”Tronds Sgt. Pepper” will be released at MERE records in May 2009.
The music is often interspersed with non-musical expressions, essayistic discourses, live camera filming and elements such as statistical facts, grimacing, etc. One of his known features is to end the composition in a ”composer’s speech to the audience”, performed live on screen, recorded and often backed with midi drums, spoken in Norwegian, or if abroad, in German or English.
