Sisu
As Sisu enters stage, the audience can expect to attend a concert that will activate the entire sensory apparatus. The percussion ensemble was established in 1993 and consists of musicians Bjørn Skansen, Marius Søbye and Tomas Nilsson.
Sisu is held as one of the finest among Scandinavian contemporary ensembles, particularly renowned for their musical aesthetics, developed in the course of an open and exploring attitude towards every possible musical challenge. Through a number of collaboration projects with various ensembles and organizers, SISU has made more than 800 concerts nationally and abroad since their formation.
For the larger part, the ensemble performs works specially written for them, and always in a tight collaboration with the composers. SISU has a repertoire of about 20 commissioned works, mostly written by Scandinavian composers. The ensemble also conjures a significant international repertoire, with artists such as Iannis Xenakis, Toru Takemitsu and Edgard Varese.
Sisu is also involved in the Norwegian-Vietnamese collaboration project Transposition, contributing by both teaching and assisting in skill development programmes.
