Textfukkers
Prepare for a perspective on art and cultural theory that you have never seen before, least of all, heard. The media theorist Marshall McLuhan, the philosopher/sociologist Theodor W. Adorno and the art history critic Anna C. Chave will have their pivotal texts performed by a marked girl’s voice, backed with a catchy synthesizers and rhythmic drum machines. It is the textfukkers’ way, breaking the wheels of cultural theory since 2007.
The trio hiding behind the textual-destructive name consists of Marte Hodne Haugen (vocals and synth), Espen Lomsdalen (synth and drums) and Marthe Berger Walthinsen (bass). All have a background in art: Lomsdalen and Walthinsen are painters educated at the Academy of Arts in Oslo, and they have held exhibitions together as well as separate, containing paintings, sculpture and installations. Haugen is a film producer who has mostly been working with animations.
