Eivind Buene
Eivind Buene (b. 1973) studied composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music. His debut came with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra during fall 2005, and he was accompanied by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra during his début in New York, Carnegie Hall, with ”Stilleben” in 2006. Currently, he is working on a new music drama for The Norwegian Opera & Ballet. Buene is preoccupied with using elements such as friction, process and repetition in his work. He can see three main lines evolving in his compositions: One line concerns adapting musical fragments into new pieces, with references to historical sediments that are influencing the conditions of production and performance of contemporary music. The other is to combine improvisation and traditional scores. The third he considers purely abstract music, bearing no connection whatsoever to other styles.
