Erlend Skomsvoll
Erlend Skomsvoll (b. 1969) is certified from the jazz programme at the Trøndelag Academy of Music, and has guested the composition programme at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo. Since 1989 he has been an active freelance musician, organizer and composer, working in very different circumstances. Skomsvoll is recognized as a central organizer, able to produce unconventional and elastic compositions, adapted to fit artists spanning in so different directions as Chick Corea, Madrugada, Come Shine and Sissel Kyrkjebø. He has toured with, amongst others, The Real Group and Wibutee, and he has conducted The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, TrondheimSolistene and Bodø Sinfonietta. Earlier this year, he did a tour with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra in Israel and Palestine, performing the composition ”Contrafactual Pieces”.
In addition to the première of his concert for piano at Ultima, the Nidarosdomen Boy’s Choir will perform his Mass in November. He has pending commissions from, among others, the percussionist Eirik Raude and BIT20’s jug Band.
