The opera War Sum Up offers Japanese comics, avantgarde fashion and music in all directions.

The Danish director Kirsten Dehlholm has always cut across genres.
War Sum Up draws on inspiration from both modern Japanese comics (manga) and ancient Japanese texts from the Japanese nô theatre. The opera revolves around three stories: the warrior who turns into
a ghost; the spy who becomes a superhero; and the soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. The music has been written by the Latvian contemporary composer Santa Ratniece, the French composer Gilbert Nouno, and the British band The Irrepressibles. The production is by Hotel Pro Forma, a renowned laboratory for performing arts and installations based in Copenhagen. The costumes are by the award-winning Danish avant-garde designer Henrik Vibskov, the manga cartoons by Hikaru Hayashi.
