In the series “Lunch with Culture”

In The Bells of Vineta , a Swedish myth inspired Bent Sørensen, recreating the sound of church bells of a cursed city ringing as they disappear into the sea. Trombonist Marius Hesby finds this piece, like a lot of Bent Sørensen’s work, to occupy its own particular world of sounds. Contortions I by Mark Adderley is both comprehensive and technically demanding, though at the same time rich and magnanimous. Performed by Hesby and pianist Einar Henning Smebye.
