Amund Sveen Sjolie: Sound of Freedom concert lecture (2011)
“Music can change people’s lives.” (Major Hilding Runar).
If you play it for 24 hours, your brain and body functions start to slide, your train of thought slows down and your will is broken. That’s when we come in and talk to them.” (Sergeant Mark Hadsell)
With The Sound of Freedom, Amund Sjølie Sveen continues his dissection of the Norwegian self-image and his own artistic projects. This performance lecture revolves around the physics of sound, Norwegian weapons exports, the ability of war to create meaning, and the use of nursery rhymes as weapons of torture.
