PROGRAMME :
(NB: Suggested ages are for guidance only)

Pling Pong Ekspress (ages 9-13)

Vinterhagen / Floor 1

12.00 - 16.00

Play ping pongand make music at the same time! Pling Pong Ekspress is a remote-controlled table tennis table with a built-in sound system underneath. The bats are fitted with sensors which make sounds when the ball hits them, creating an atmospheric sonic backdrop. The table can also move around, filling the room with sound effects, techno music, loops and ambient sounds. The table’s creators, the duo known as Samvær Under Tilsün, act as umpires, sound engineers and hosts to keep the game going. You can drop in and try it any time, all day.

Lyden av Skogen (The Forest Sounds) (all ages)

Forstanderskapssalen / Floor 3

12.00 - 12.50, 13.30 - 14.20, 15.15 - 16.05

Join in with Øyvind Torvund and Åshild Kanstad Johnsen’s The Forest Sounds, a concert experience featuring singing, drawing and storytelling. Make funny sounds as we guide you through fantasy woodlands and gardens, and hunt for the city planners who want to chop down all the trees.

Lavaskogen (Lava Forest) (ages 6-13)

Gymsalen / Floor 4+

12.00 - 12.40, 13.30 - 14.10, 15.00 - 15.40

Mysterious creatures rise up from the floor, with hunched backs, tentacles and beaks. They creep and crawl, twist and shuffle around. Are they from another planet?
Lava Forest is a performance for all the senses in which dancers take the shape of different beings and move their own bodies and the cloth scenery to create associations with various landscapes and environments. The audience sits on four sides of the stage close up to the action.

Lydmalere (Sound Painters) (ages 5–13)

P1 / Floor 4+

12.00 - 16.00

Dancing laser beams, splashing water, drums, cello and synths – come on in to the Sound Painters’ workshop! Together with musicians Andrine Dyblie Erdal and Jomar Jeppsson Søvik, you can explore some exciting tools for music making. We’ve got sounds you can see and touch as well as hear!

Skapia: Magical Music by Minor Maestros
(all ages)

Kronesalen / Floor 4+ (entrance to the roof terrace Mynt)

12.00 - 13.00, 13.00 - 14.00, 14.00 - 15.00

Pupils from Gamlebyen School have composed music for professional musicians. The children have acted as ‘artistic directors’ and mentors for the musicians during the creative process. Today sees the premiere of this musical work by three professional musicians.
Musicians: Ulrik Ibsen Thorsrud, Inga Margrete Aas and Vilde Sandve Alnæs.

På havets bunn (At the Bottom of the Sea)
(ages 0–5)

Hvelvet / Floor 1+

13.00 - 13.30, 14.00 - 14.30, 15.30 - 16.00

Take part in a beautiful voyage of discovery on the sea bed, where a shy hermit crab is wandering away from its hiding place. Glittering shoals of fish and sparkling sea creatures swim past, and at the deepest, darkest bottom of the sea, the clam guards its secret.
The performance is inspired by Inger Hagerup’s poem ‘At the Bottom of the Sea there are Ships’.

Pytheas Travels (all ages)

Marmorsalen / Floor 1

14.30 - 15.30

Experience a special version of this year’s Ultima favourite, Pytheas Travels – a fantasy cruise from the ancient Mediterranean to the unknown North. On board ship you’ll enjoy a marvellous voyage where you can hear music, think about the climate and nature, and see strange and wonderful things.

Best day out ever

The most Insta-friendly kids event in Oslo. My young ones came home with a whole raft of memories and sensations. Especially Pytheas Travels, which stimulated lots of talk about climate and alternative AI-worlds.

Magic forest

‘The Forest Concerts was such an adventure. My daughter loved joining in with making tape recordings, blowing wind noises into microphones and flashing stars on the ceiling with a torch. She joined in making sounds on her way through imaginary woods and gardens and kept a look out for the city planners who want to cut down the trees! What a brilliant idea.’
