Rain drums, wind howls, thunder rumbles – and the weather becomes music!

Led by Drivhuset’s music workshop, imaginative hands get to build their own rain sticks and join a full orchestra of rustling, dripping and rolling thunder sounds. At the rain stick station, participants can make and decorate their own weather instrument with popcorn, lentils or peas, shaping the sound exactly as they wish.

Once the instruments are ready, improvisation and ensemble playing await in the next room. Here, musician and composer Jon Halvor Bjørnseth leads the way through a soundscape filled with homemade instruments, wind machines, balloon blowing and water drums. Together, you will discover how to make music from weather – and weather from music.

The workshop is part of Barnas Ultima-dager (BUD) – the festival’s own programme for its youngest audience (but adults are more than welcome too)! At BUD, you can discover contemporary music and exciting new sounds through concerts, performances and workshops.
