How can your body transform through listening?

Metamorphoses is the first instalment of Janne-Camilla Lyster’s Love, polyphonic trilogy. It opens a series of choreographic works planned to unfold over the next three years, in which Lyster approaches movement, sound, geometry and language through the conceptual prism of ‘love’. On a bare stage, a dancer and a cellist conjure concrete and imaginary visions. Love becomes a tool for listening to the world in its polyphonic, multi-voiced variety.

The performance makes reference to the classical poetry of Sappho and Ovid’s legendary collection of transformative myths, the Metamorphoses. The dancer’s actions and images, together with the music, create momentary mental associations, connections, and transformations.

Janne-Camilla Lyster is a Norwegian choreographer, dancer and author. She has been working in contemporary dance since 2006 and has published poetry, a collection of choreographic scores, a play and two novels.
