Join Ultima’s House Concert Committee – and bring the festival into people’s homes

In 2026, Ultima will be inviting audiences into private homes, neighbourhoods and local communities across Oslo through a new series of house concerts.

At our house concerts, you experience the music up close. Performances take place in living rooms, kitchens and courtyards. You meet the musicians at close range — you hear their breathing, see bodies in motion, and sense the scent of wood from the instruments. There is space for conversation and questions, and to experience music you may never have heard before, in informal, homely surroundings. Music comes to life through encounters with different everyday lives, homes and ways of living.

To find homes, hosts and good meeting places, we are now establishing Ultima’s House Concert Committee. We are looking for engaged “house hunters” to help us open doors — quite literally.

Are you 18 to 100+ and: 

• have a large or varied network
• is involved in your local community
• is interested in music and curious
• care about community and togetherness
• would like to be part of a major international music festival

Then this might be something for you.

What does it involve?

House concerts can take place in many types of homes, and we do not require large spaces or special facilities. What matters most is a host who wants to open their door. We want to connect with hosts of all ages and in all life situations.

As a member of the House Concert Committee, you will:

• identify and suggest homes and other suitable venues for house concerts
• collaborate with Ultima to match musicians with appropriate homes
• contribute context and dialogue around how musicians can present themselves in the selected homes

Ultima recruits the musicians and is responsible for the artistic content.

Practical information

During the festival in September 2026, we are planning house concerts primarily in the districts of Bjerke, Østensjø, Søndre Nordstrand, Gamle Oslo, Vestre Aker and Nordre Aker. We are also open to other locations. The aim is to expand cultural offerings in districts outside central Oslo.

Over the period, there will be 3–4 meetings of the House Concert Committee, organised and co-ordinated by Ultima.

Terms

Number of positions: 5 people

Fee: NOK 10,000 (project fee) + free ultiMATE membership in 2026

Period: February–September 2026
