Marianne Stranger: Vannverk

Vannverk (Waterworks) is an audiovisual art happening which creates a space for contemplation on the meaning of water in our lives. Highlighting the poetic and visceral qualities of water, Waterworks aims to address how powerful yet vulnerable this element is.

In this special happening in Voksenåsen hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, you are guided into your own inflatable ball, 2m in diameter. Launched on the water, you float like a drop or atom of liquid. Bobbing inside the womb-like ball, you will hear an electroacoustic musical piece accompanied by light beams reflecting the movements of the water. The music is based on a graphic score inspired by the water cycle, and theatrical soundscapes mixed into a catchy, atmospheric and emotional piece.

Each ball has an operator, to ensure the experience is smooth and comfortable. After fifteen minutes you emerge and watch the water while another music piece plays. Finally you are guided to the balcony to take in the whole pool and the fjord view.

Important information

Recommended age: 16 and over (12 and over if accompanied by an adult)

Clothing: We recommend warm and comfortable clothes, e.g. wool sweater and socks. You will be outside and standing still for some time. Rain is a possibility.

Transport: We provide buses between Voksenkollen T-Bane station and Voksenåsen Hotel, for audience members with tickets.
