Kjell Runar Jenssen and Hild Sofie Tafjord in conversation with Rob Young

To get you in the mood for tonight’s celebration/reconfiguration of Western movie music by zeitkratzer, we have invited Spaghetti Western afficionado and expert Kjell Runar Jenssen from Cinemateket to pick some key examples in the development of Western soundtrack music.

In conversation with Rob Young, Kjell Runar will play musical extracts going back to the very first example of what we now know as the ‘Morricone sound’.

Norwegian horn player Hild Sofie Tafjord is a member of the European zeitkratzer ensemble, and she will provide insight into the links between the spaghetti sestern history and tonight’s performance.

This talk will leave you in no doubt about what makes spaghetti western music so unique – and its origins may surprise you.
